Over Thanksgiving break of my senior year of college, I made 41 tote bags, which were commissioned by Fall Out Boy. One design, three colors. It was my biggest commission ever, and we had our share of problems, but in the end I'm pretty proud of the way they turned out.
Testing the screens.
Mildly blobby successful text screening.
Screening the sides of the bags.
A good view of the sheer volume of bags I was up against. Picture by my sister Marnie, of www.soomcraft.com.
First successful text screening on an actual bag (not test fabric)
An action-shot of me screenprinting the sides of the yellow bags (they were my favorite ones).
Simon skulking under a table full of bags, angry that we weren't paying attention to him.
My mom and sister offered to help out, so I wouldn't be stuck in the basement by myself all Thanksgiving break. They haven't admitted it, but I think they later regretted volunteering.
Marnie playing hide-and-seek in the (slowly growing) pile of finished bags.
My roommate/best friend Kay modelling a yellow bag back at our apartment.
The finished products. The fabric on the right is the lining. I call these "tote bag glamour shots."
